A Message from Olivewood’s President

Today I would like to feature Rev. Christopher Colombus Minegan (1847- 1917). He was born in Ripley Ohio to William Minegan of Virginia, and Frances Minegan of Kentucky.  During the Civil War he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Cincinnati, Ohio at the young age of 17. After the war he joined the U.S. Army in 1867 at the age of 19. Rev. Minegan resided in Houston until his death at age 70. His service was an example to many, and we know about him thanks to the research shared with us by our many volunteers and descendants.

Thank you to all of the descendants, historians, and genealogists who are researching those who are interred in Olivewood Cemetery.  Because of you we are able to continue honoring the contributions they have made to early Houston, Texas, and their influence on the world. Please keep  doing the research and sending us the information. By so doing, we reach one, teach one. Please send the information to Ms. Jasmine Lee at jlee@descendantsofolivewood.org.

Kindest Regards,

Margott Williams
